Website Traffic Generation With Keywords

The goal of any business using a website to market their products and services is to get potential customers to locate their website amongst the vast number of competitors, which can be in the millions. Competition in the world of internet marketing is much different than that of traditional retail marketing, in that internet marketers are competing for qualified customers through website traffic generation.

In order to maximize website traffic generation, internet marketers must “Understand the Psyche” of their potential customers and find out exactly what they are typing into the Search Engines in order to find their products – in other words, laser targeted keywords.

The formula is simple: Highly Targeted Keywords =Website Traffic Generation

Furthermore, in order to reduce the competition and maximize website traffic generation, IM’s must find popular long tail keywords, or what are often referred to as key phrases. The shorter the keyword, the greater the number of search results and the longer the keyword phrase, the lesser the number of search results. Search results in the internet marketing world equate to competition.

For example, at the time of this writing, a Google Search for the word “guitar” provided 169,000,000 results. However, a search for the phrase “how to play the guitar” provided 97,000 results. Although this example is somewhat simplified, it does show that the longer and more targeted the keyword or phrase, competition will be reduced, and website traffic generation will be maximized.

It is frustrating to see that many internet marketers a great deal of time writing articles, setting up blogs, participating in forums, and ultimately developing expensive and elaborate websites, with no understanding of the effect that a small amount of keyword research has on website traffic generation.
Keyword research is more of an art than a science, however, it is a skill which can and must be learned in order to succeed as a successful internet marketer.
